Notes | Enwyd y tŷ ar ôl llong a adeiladwyd ym 1860 gan Henry Harries ym Mheris, Llansantffraed. Mae'n debyg mai Richard Richards y llongfeistr a'i enwodd. The house was named after a ship built in 1860 by Henry Harries in Peris, Llansantffraed. It's likely that the house was named by Richard Richards, the master mariner. Adroddodd yr Abertystwyth Observer ar 11 Tachwedd 1876: The Aberystwyth Observer reported on the 11th of November 1876: "Shipping Casualty. - The Shipping Gazette reports the loss of an Aberystwyth vessel:- "Amstardam, Nov. 8th, 11.12. a.m. (by telegraph.) The Aretas schooner, Thomas, from Portmadoc for Hamburg (slate) is ashore at Terschelling. Will probably be total loss. Five men drowned; only mate (Evans) saved." The master of the Aretas is brother to Mr. Thomas Thomas, painter, Great Dark-gate street." |
